The New SharePoint Page Agent – First Impressions

Posted on Today at 5:51 am

Ever wish publishing SharePoint content was as easy as sending a message? Thanks to the new SharePoint Page Agent, that wish is now a reality. This feature, powered by M365 Copilot, is designed to make creating and styling SharePoint pages faster, easier, and more intuitive than ever before. And WOW… this thing is very impressive. Especially for a Frontier feature (which it currently is). You’ll want to know more about this, trust me.

In this post, I’ll share my first impressions after testing this new Page Agent, walk you through how it works, and explain why I think this is a big deal for anyone working with SharePoint. Site owners and page authors especially will love this new agent.

What Is the SharePoint Page Agent?

The Page Agent is part ofSharePoint Page Agent Microsoft 365’s growing ecosystem of Copilot agents. Think of it as an AI-powered assistant that helps you create SharePoint pages without the usual manual steps. Instead of opening SharePoint, creating a blank page, and formatting everything yourself, you can simply have a conversation with the agent.

Here’s the magic: you tell the agent what you need, maybe even attach a document, and it builds the page for you. It doesn’t just copy and paste your content… it organizes it into sections, adds headers, and even suggests enhancements like comparison tables or testimonials. It feels less like a tool and more like a collaborator.

Why This Matters

If you’ve ever spent hours formatting a SharePoint page, you know how tedious it can be. Adding sections, styling text, inserting images… it all takes time. The SharePoint Page Agent changes that. It’s conversational, fast, and integrated with Microsoft 365 tools you already use, like Teams and Copilot.

This isn’t just about saving time. It’s about changing the way we work. Instead of thinking in terms of “tasks” (create page, format page, publish page), you think in terms of “outcomes” (I need a page about a new company event). The agent handles the details.

My First Impressions

After spending time with the SharePoint Page Agent, here’s what stood out:

1. Ease of Use

Converting a Word documentSharePoint Page Agent into a SharePoint page is effortless. You can chat directly with the agent or even @mention it in Copilot. No digging through menus or navigating complex settings. You just tell it what you need. Period.

2. Time-Saving

The days of manually editing and formatting pages are over… at least if you have an M365 Copilot license. This feature eliminates repetitive steps and speeds up publishing. What used to take 30 minutes can now take 3.

3. Control

Every page starts as a private draft. Nothing goes live without your approval, which means you stay in control. Copilot assists, but it doesn’t publish without your say-so. That’s important for governance and compliance. It also delivers on the promise of Copilot. It’s there to assist you, not replace you.

4. Styling

The agent adds headers, colors, testimonials, and even pricing details automatically. It’s not just black-and-white text. It feels like a real page. You can refine the design with SharePoint’s built-in design ideas or add additional sections using Copilot Sections inside SharePoint.

5. Future Potential

Microsoft has mentioned other agents coming soon, like a Lists Agent. Imagine creating entire lists with columns and data through a simple conversation. That’s coming soon, and it’s exciting.

🔒 Sponsored by Afi — Smarter Cloud Backup & Recovery

Cloud platforms like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure, AWS, and Kubernetes are powerful — but they don’t always protect your data the way you think. Accidental deletions, ransomware, and compliance gaps can still cause serious disruptions.

That’s why I’ve partnered with Afi, a modern backup and recovery solution built for today’s multi-cloud environments. Afi offers full-fidelity restores, encrypted full-text search, version history, and even self-service recovery — so users can get their data back without waiting on IT.

Its AI-powered ransomware detection automatically triggers backups before damage is done, giving you peace of mind and keeping your business running smoothly.

Over 10,000 organizations trust Afi to protect their cloud data.

Two Ways to Use It

There are two main ways to interact with the SharePoint Page Agent:
  1. Direct Chat: Open the agent and tell it what you need. Attach your document, answer a few questions, and let it build the page.
  2. @Mention in Copilot: You don’t even have to open the agent directly. From a regular Copilot chat, @mention the Page Agent and it joins the conversation. This is a glimpse into the future of how multiple Copilot agents will work together.

What Stood Out During Testing

One of the coolest features is the ability to add sections with AI. This is also a feature of M365 Copilot inside SharePoint, which I covered in this video. You can type a prompt or attach more documents, and the agent will expand your page intelligently. This pairs so well with the Page Agent. Combine that with design ideas and you’ve got a workflow that feels modern and efficient.

Another thing I noticed: the agent asks smart follow-up questions. For example, after reading my document, it asked if I wanted to include technical specifications or a comparison table. That level of interaction makes the process feel collaborative.

The Bottom Line

The SharePoint Page Agent is more than a new feature. It’s a sign of where Microsoft is taking collaboration and content creation. If you’re a SharePoint user with an M365 Copilot license, this is going to change how you work.

The days of manually creating pages from scratch? Definitely over.

Why Copilot Agents Are the Future

The SharePoint Page Agent is just one example of what Copilot agents can do. These agents aren’t just shortcuts… they’re a new way of working. Instead of navigating menus and clicking buttons, you have conversations. You describe what you want, and the agent figures out how to make it happen.

This conversational approach is powerful because it removes friction. It’s faster, more intuitive, and it opens the door to automation that feels natural. And as more agents roll out, like the Lists Agent, you’ll be able to manage entire workflows through simple prompts.

Tips for Getting Started

If you’re ready to try the SharePoint Page Agent, here are a few tips:
  • Add the Agent to Your Account: You’ll need to find it in the agent store and click “Add.” It’s currently part of Microsoft’s Frontier program.
  • Start Simple: Begin with a single document and a clear prompt. For example: “Create a SharePoint page about the XD500 drone. Include an overview, benefits, and pricing.”
  • Refine in SharePoint: Use Copilot Sections in SharePoint to add more. The more context you give, the better the results. Try adding details like “Make it visually appealing” or “Include a testimonial section.”
  • Use Design Ideas: After the page is created, use SharePoint’s design ideas to refine the look.
  • Stay in Control: Remember, the agent creates drafts. Review everything before publishing.

What’s Next?

Microsoft is clearly betting big on Copilot agents, and I think they’re right. These agents will change how we work with SharePoint, Teams, and beyond. The Lists Agent is coming soon, and that’s going to be huge for anyone managing data in SharePoint.
Imagine creating an entire list… columns, formatting, everything, just by saying, “Create a list for tracking project milestones.” That’s where we’re headed.

Final Thoughts

The SharePoint Page Agent isn’t perfect. You’ll still need to tweak designs and add imagery. But as a first step toward conversational content creation, it’s impressive. It saves time, reduces friction, and makes SharePoint feel modern.

If you’re on the fence about Copilot, this feature might be the one that convinces you. The future of SharePoint is conversational, and Copilot agents are leading the way.
